Privacy Policy

BhashLoop is an app for learning Bengali (Bangla) across its regional dialects. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and the control you have over it. We tried to write it in plain English — if anything is unclear, email us at hi@bhashaloop.com.

The short version: BhashLoop requires a free account, which you create by signing in with Apple, Google, or Facebook. We store your learning progress and a small profile so it syncs across your phone, tablet, and the web. You can export your data or delete your account at any time, from inside the app.

Who we are

“BhashLoop,” “we,” and “us” refer to the makers of the BhashLoop app and the website at bhashaloop.com. You can reach us any time at hi@bhashaloop.com.

What we collect

When you create your account

BhashLoop requires a free account to use. You create one by signing in with Apple, Google, or Facebook (handled through Firebase Authentication). When you sign in, we receive and store:

• Your name and profile photo, as provided by the service you chose
• Your email address (with Sign in with Apple you may choose Apple’s private relay address)
• A unique account identifier

We never see or store your Apple, Google, or Facebook password. Sign-in is handled by that provider; we only receive the basic profile details above.

Learning progress

When you’re signed in, we store your learning data so it follows you across devices:

• Total XP, current streak, and longest streak
• Lessons you’ve completed, per dialect
• Hearts (the in-app practice lives) and when one was last used
• The dialect(s) you’re studying

Leaderboard (this part is public)

BhashLoop has a global leaderboard. Your display name, profile photo, total XP, and current streak may be shown to other learners on the leaderboard. We do not put your email address or any other personal details on the leaderboard. If you’d prefer not to appear, email us to be removed, or delete your account from inside the app.

Usage analytics

To understand which lessons work and where learners get stuck, we record basic, in-app events — for example: a lesson started or completed, a dialect selected, a screen viewed, or a streak extended. These events include the action, a timestamp, and (if you’re signed in) your account identifier. We use this to improve the lessons, not to build an advertising profile. We do not sell this data.

Audio & pronunciation

BhashLoop reads Bengali words and phrases aloud using your device’s built-in text-to-speech. This is a one-way feature: the app sends text to your device’s speech engine so you can hear pronunciation. BhashLoop does not access your microphone, and we do not record, listen to, or store your voice.

How we use your information

• To save your learning progress and sync it across your devices
• To run features you choose to use, like the leaderboard
• To understand how the app is used so we can improve lessons and fix problems
• To respond to you when you contact us for support

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

Who we share it with

We keep sharing to a minimum. Your data is processed by the services that make the app work:

• Google / Firebase — provides sign-in, the database that stores your progress, and analytics storage. Your data is held in Google’s cloud infrastructure on our behalf. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
• Apple — if you choose Sign in with Apple, Apple authenticates you and shares your name and email (or a private relay email). See Apple’s Privacy Policy.
• Meta (Facebook) — if you choose Continue with Facebook, Meta authenticates you and shares your basic public profile and email. See Meta’s Privacy Policy.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety, rights, or property of BhashLoop and its users.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and progress data for as long as your account exists. If you ask us to delete your account, we remove your profile, progress, and leaderboard entry. Progress stored only on your device is deleted when you uninstall the app or clear its data.

Your choices and rights

• Export your data. Use “Export my data” in the app’s Profile to download a JSON copy of everything stored on your device, any time.
• Delete your account. Use “Delete account” in the app’s Profile to erase your progress, streak, leaderboard entry, and account — or email hi@bhashaloop.com and we’ll do it for you.
• Stay off the leaderboard. Email us to remove your entry, or delete your account.

Depending on where you live (for example, the EU/UK under GDPR, or California under the CCPA), you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, or port your data. We honor these requests for all users — just email us.

Children

BhashLoop is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

Security

We rely on Google’s secure cloud infrastructure and database access rules to protect your data in transit and at rest. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep the amount of data we collect small and the access to it tight.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we make a meaningful change, we’ll update the “Effective” date above and, where appropriate, let you know in the app. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
